BOLLYWOOD BEAUTY

This necklace was created for and won the Etsy Beadweavers September "Bollywood" Challenge. As I looked at jewelry from India, I saw vibrant color, lots of precious metal, triangles, dangles, and lush extravagance. I tried to encorporate those ideas in this necklace, along with pure fun and flash. August 2010. This piece is for sale at my Etsy shop, Haute Ice Beadwork.

JANUARY DAWN

This piece was created in response to the breath-taking beauty of the hoar frost and orchid sky on January 13th, 2010 in Minnetonka, MN. It won first place in the Jewelry division of the Minnesota State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition, as well as the Upper Midwest Bead Society Award. It is in the public collection of Cafesjian Gallery.

ZEPHYR'S SPRING FLOWER NECK LACE

A light and airy tribute to Zephyr, the Greek Goddess of the warm west wind, created for the Etsy Beadweavers Team April Challenge, "Light As A Breeze." This is literal neck lace, delicately bead embroidered on hand painted lace applique by Etsy seller Jennie's Heirlooms in Australia. April 2010. In a private collection.

THE LAST LEAF

Created as an entry in the Etsy Beadweavers Challenge "Autumn Falling of Leaves."  My neighbor's maple is the first in my neighborhood to color its leeaves, and autumn breezes float some of those beautiful treasures into my yard.  This is a copy of a favorite leaf, strung with coral and copper.  September 2010.  In a private collection.

EIGHTY- SEVENTH BIRTHDAY NECKLACE

Created as a birthday gift for my mother from a cabochon given to me by my sister. Fringed beadwoven bezel. March 2010.   In my mother's collection for two years, and now in my own following her passing.

DAISY BUCHANAN : INNOCENCE IN DECAY
Created for the International Society of Glass Beadmakers juried exhibition, "Convergence II: Adorning the Past, Present and Pretend. Jewelry Design with Art Glass Beads Inspired by Personas of Fact and Fiction," with partner Hannah Rosner, who created the lampwork orchid and flowers in the necklace. This work was shown at the ISGB 2010 Gathering in Rochester, New York, and traveled with the exhibit, including a trip to the Kobe Glass Museum in Japan during the Tsunami of 2010.

The assignment for this juried exhibit was to create jewelry for a character, real or fictional.  In the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel "The Great Gatsby," the young debutant Daisy meets soldier Jay Gatsby.  They fall in love, and she promises to wait for him to return from war.  As the story progresses, Daisy innocence begins to disintegrate.  She has not waited for Jay, replacing her youthful love with a decadent, philandering husband, whose wealth and status provide her with the life style she craves.  Unfortunately, he also robs her of her dignity and integrity.  Like the beaded cloche I designed for her, she is supercifially pure, but evidence of moral decay decorates her thoughts and actions.  She is a hot house orchid, unable to cope with the ugliness of her life, and rotting from the inside out, like Hannah's glass flowers.   March 2010.   Purchased for a private collection through the MN State Fair Fine Arts Exhibit.

CALYPSO'S VALENTINE

This set was created for the Esty Beadweavers February Challenge, which had an ocean theme. As a costume designer, I sometimes like to design for a character, and this necklace is for Tia Dalma, a beautiful and mysterious woman from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" film trilogy. Tia Dalma is the mythical sea nymph goddess, Calypso, captured in human form. The necklace represents her lover, Davy Jones, who carves out his heart in sadness at being unable to share her life. The focal, created from a beautiful split ammonite pair, is fringed with pearls to suggest both a heart shape and the face of a bearded pirate. February 2010.    In a private collection.

THAT OLD BLACK MAGIC SET

Created for the Textile Center of MN Gallery Holiday Show and Sale.  Bead bezeled Black Knight oval window drusy strung with freshwater pearls and Chinese crystals. Blackened base metal findings. January 2010.  In a private collection.

JASPER IN DARK GOLD SET

A long teardrop of Jasper, bezeled in dark 24k gold delicas, and strung with my current favorite Jasper, Aqua Terra.  Two pairs of earrings were included.  In a private collection.

ROCKY BUTTE JASPER SET

This round cabochon has landscape imagery and is bead-bezeled in 24k green gold plate delicas.  Delicate 20" neckstrap  can be shortened for a custom fit.  Earrings feature details that echo the group of three dangles at the base of the cabochon.  In a private collection.

OCEAN PICTURE JASPER SET

An oval Ocean Picture Jasper cabochon with beautiful patterning that reminds me of a Gustav Klimt painting, bead bezeled and fringed in shades of gold.   For sale in my Etsy shop.

JASPER PENDANT SET

Lovely triangular drop shaped jasper with lots of greens, bronzy browns and hints of pink, strung with jasper rounds.  In a private collection.

TIDEPOOL PENDANT NECKLACE SET
My first effort with bead embroidery. The pendant features a sculpted oblong Azurite with Malachite inclusions.  For me the beginning of something very new and exciting!   In a private collection.
